Today’s Scripture: Isaiah 63:16, NKJV- “Doubtless You are our Father, Though Abraham was ignorant of us, And Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O LORD, are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.”
Do you like to travel and experience new things? I have found that the Spirit of the LORD can take us wherever God wants us in a matter of seconds. Just this morning as I knelt before my heavenly Father, His Spirit carried me from beginning to end of His Word.
There are so many voices that draw us in every direction. Our thoughts and emotions can be unhealthy in an instant. Yet, at any moment, we can choose to pause and pray as Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6:9, “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” (NKJV) I affirmed to myself this morning. “You God are my Father.”
Then these words “popped” into my head. “In the beginning, God.” I tried to remember if that was the first line in the Bible. So, I went to Genesis 1:1 and found “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (NKJV)
Well, if that is the first verse, I wondered what the last verse in the Bible is. Next, I traveled to Revelation 22:21 where I found “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.” (KJV) I affirmed “The grace of my Lord Jesus Christ is with me.”
Thinking that my affirmation of the day was “You God are my Father,” I thought I would search my spreadsheet just to make sure that I had not written on this same affirmation recently. I found that I had captured these words once before in Isaiah 63:16. So, I re-read the scripture, “Doubtless You are our Father, Though Abraham was ignorant of us, And Israel does not acknowledge us. You, O LORD, are our Father; Our Redeemer from Everlasting is Your name.” (NKJV)
Isaiah 63 was recounting how the LORD guided His people with His Holy Spirit. The one thing that blesses me day after day is to Hallow God’s name. Google AI defines “hallowed” as “to treat God’s name as holy, set apart, and worthy of highest honor, reverence, and adoration.”
The way my mind works is if I am to praise God as holy and set apart, I attempt to remember who God says He is through the scriptures. Reading for context in Isaiah I saw In Isaiah 63:10 that the people of Israel had, once again, rebelled, and grieved God’s Holy Spirit. I believe you and I can realize at times that we also still rebel and grieve the Holy Spirit. However, we find in Isaiah 63:11 we can do as they did, “Then they remembered those days of old when Moses led his people out of Egypt. They cried out, “Where is the one who brought Israel through the sea, with Moses as their shepherd? Where is the one who sent his Holy Spirit to be among his people? (NLT)
When we recall what God has done continually for His people and we confess that we are His people, we too can praise Him for being our Father and Redeemer. God’s Holy Spirit has a way of transporting us from our daily challenges into the arms of our eternal Father. From beginning to end our Father loves us and gives us grace through His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today’s Prayer: Our Father in heaven, thank You for creating us and sending to us Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for the reminders of Your Word that carry us back to You. You LORD are our Father and You have redeemed us through Jesus Christ. We praise You and set You apart as holy. Thank You for being our Father and Redeemer. Amen.
