Today’s Scripture: Ezekiel 34:12, NKJV- “As a shepherd seeks out his flock on the day he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered on a cloudy and dark day.”
Everyone has cloudy and dark days. The Word of God has wonderful news for all of us. In Ezekiel 34:11-12, God, Himself promises to come and seek us out. Are in you in a cloudy and dark place right now? The LORD, He is coming for you.
In the meantime, look for the closest sheep near you. It is so true, as stated in Ezekiel 34:5 states, when we are scattered, we become food for wild animals. In the very first lesson of Celebrate Recovery, in the acrostic for denial, the “I” stands for isolation. This is what we do as humans.
Whether we isolate ourselves in our addictions or any other hurts, habits, and hang-ups we find ourselves in some cloudy thoughts and dark places. Unfortunately, our nature is to not seek help. I have some wonderful news for you today. There is hope because the God of the universe, the Creator of all humankind is seeking you out personally.
I am so thankful that God sought me out when I was lost in my addictions, and He still seeks me when I am in cloudy and dark places. It is awesome that God uses our darkest days and places to make shepherds out of us.
Ezekiel 34:13 states that after God comes and gathers us, He puts us in our own lands. You have a land. I have a land. You are in my land now and I am feeding others out of my experience and thanksgiving. There are other sheep in your land that need you, badly.
In our isolation, we believe the dark lies and are prey for all kinds of wild animals and evil. But when we realize we are not alone we find God, our Shepherd, and we find a land of purpose, passion, and meaning. We can share our cloudy and dark days with other people and to tell them how God came and got us.
Being as bold as I can be, maybe God sent me to you right now to gather you. God loves you and He Himself is coming for you and He uses many different people, places, and things to call you. In Ezekiel 34:14, God says He will feed us and tend for us. We, in turn, can feed and tend for our sheep. We can share the daily bread we receive from the LORD.
We can feed on the Word of God and help others. So, please do not remain scattered and vulnerable to the wild animals of this world to eat you. Begin protecting yourself by gathering with other sheep and be on the lookout for The Shepherd, our Lord and Savior who is seeking for you.
God will bring us to a safe place and heal our wounds as promised in Ezekiel 34:16. Are you willing and wanting to live in the safety God?
Today’s Prayer: Almighty God, thank You for seeking our Your sheep. Thank You LORD for seeking me on my cloudiest and darkest days. Please use my days to help others in their days. Gather us LORD. Thank You for continuing to feed and care for us. I am living for You in the land You have brought me to. Please grant me the daily bread to feed my sheep. Amen.
