Today’s Scripture: John 14:17, NLT- “He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”
Do you want to know the truth? Where are you looking? Truth will not be found in news casts, universities, political leaders, nor in the collective thoughts of mobs of unbelievers.
Jesus promised His disciples and us in John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever—(AMP) In the following verse, John 14:17, Jesus said that the Holy Spirit lives with us and in us.
Jesus taught us by example how we are to turn away from the commotion of life and turn to communion with God. Alone with God, we silence even ourselves, so we hear the truth of God.
According to Google AI Key biblical accounts where Jesus prayed alone include:
- After feeding the 5,000, he went up a mountain by himself to pray, according to Matthew 14:23 and Mark 6:46.
- Luke 5:16 indicates that withdrawing to desolate places to pray was a regular habit for him.
- Mark 1:35 describes him rising very early and going to a desolate place to pray.
- Before choosing his twelve apostles, Luke 6:12 states he spent the night praying to God on a mountain.
- In the Garden of Gethsemane on the night before his crucifixion, Jesus went a short distance from his disciples to pray alone (Matthew 26:36, 39, Luke 22:41).
- Luke 9:18 mentions Jesus praying alone before asking his disciples who people said he was.
I love this line on google “AI can make mistakes, so double-check responses.” Just how do we double-check? We read God’s Word on our own and we look to the Holy Spirit to help counsel us in what we must do to live as God calls us and to live as Jesus exemplified for us.
In today’s political environment, God’s Word is being revealed. In John 16:2 Jesus warned that a time was coming when there would be people willing to kill us and think they are offering a service to God. For many people today, their God is not the God of the Bible but the gods of politics and human understanding. John 16:3 says, “They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me.” (NIV)
How do we get to know God? We do just as Jesus did and get alone with Him and allow the Holy Spirit to commune.
As 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 tells us we can ask the Holy Spirit to help us manifest the gifts God has given each of us for the common good of all humankind. Just as God sent Jesus to be sacrificed for our sins, He has sent each of us to be the part of His body, just as He wanted us to be. As 1 Corinthians 12:27 states clearly “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (NIV)
We can believe that God made us just as He wanted us and believe Psalm 139:16 where we are told “You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” (NLT)
We must get alone with God every morning and ask His Holy Spirit to manifest in us the day God recorded for each of us.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Holy Spirit that Jesus sent for us. Help us LORD to dwell with Your Spirit and fulfill what You have planned for us today. Help me Holy Spirit to know God and live today just as He ordained for me. In the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray, Amen.
