Today’s Scripture: Matthew 9:9 ESV: As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
We complicate things don’t we? We continue to ask God or others how we are to go. We wonder out loud about God’s plan for us and lose track of our way quickly.
Did Matthew ask Jesus here in Matthew 9:9 where He was leading? Did he ask Him how he was to go? Did Matthew seek confirmation or support from his friends?
He rose, without question, and followed Jesus. Matthew 9 ends with Jesus instructing the disciples to pray earnestly to the Lord and He continues teaching them in Matthew 10.
Jesus also instructs us and gives us authority to do as He had done. We should go to the lost and give away what we have been given. We can expect the Spirit to speak and we can tell what has been told to us by Him in the dark and in further instructions in His Word.
Let us simply rise and follow Jesus.
Today’s Prayer: LORD, thank You for Jesus and His way. Thank You for instructing me. Forgive me LORD for when I look for a different way or trust my flesh to guide me. I am following Jesus. I give up my life and my understanding to follow You. Amen
