Today’s Scripture: Psalm 46:10, NKJV- “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
There are mornings when I am still before God that I find myself asking Jesus to teach me what His time was like when He left everyone else behind to go out into the wilderness to be still with God. Also, when I do not know what to pray when I am alone with God, I am constantly reminded of Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.” (ESV)
Recently, these groanings have been happening with more regularity and more naturally in my prayers. So much so, I found myself this morning wondering if this is really the Holy Spirit? After my prayers I pulled out a scrap of paper from under my computer where I keep old notes and scriptures to follow up on. I trust God to direct me to His Word. I found “I hear God in my heart.”
Although not super-spiritual, I turned to Google to find the scripture I had harvested this affirmation. I am still not sure about that but was reminded this morning of Proverbs 2:10, “When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,” (NKJV) and Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (NKJV)
God, what are Your intents for my heart? I am praying that You and the Holy Spirit are at work for me to do Your will. Why God did I doubt the source this morning just because I am praying differently? Did I not ask Jesus to teach me? He is faithful. Sometimes when things become too easy for us, we give it less credibility and forget that God is in the process.
Our gifts that God has given us are overlooked at times because they are just “natural” for us. I was once advised to consider what I enjoyed doing and when I am doing it, time seems to fly by without a care in this world. I was told this would be the perfect scenario for building a vocation from our passions.
How about building a life instead of just a vocation? When we step away from life and are still with God the Father, we can ask Him to create in us the clarity of purpose that grants us boldness to do His will. God has created us for such a time as this. We may find it hard to fit into the world’s calling upon us, but we can choose to go naturally with the calling God Himself has placed into our hearts.
Let us get alone with the Father, be still, and know He is our God. We can confess that we love Him with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength just as He and Jesus have called us to do. We can trust that God and His Spirit are guiding us to live the life He created for us.
Will you get away from the noises of this world and be still and know God is your God?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am being still, and I know You are my God. I am trusting in Your Holy Spirit to pray for me, guide me, and place me where I will glorify You. Thank You LORD for shaping me to do Your will. Help me to hear You more clearly and live for You more boldly. Use me LORD to share Your daily bread. Help us to make disciples of all nations. In the name of Jesus Christ who left us Your Helper and Counselor to do Your will, Amen.
