I have an abundant life in Jesus.
Today’s Scripture: John 10:10, ESV- “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
The way and life of Jesus shows us how to have life to the full. We find the riches of God when we follow Jesus.
Through God’s will and way we see Jesus, the Father, the Spirit, and ourselves in a new way, in Jesus’ way. He tells us He is the door John 10:9 and as we go in and out through Him, we find life. We can trust Jesus and the Word of God, to continue to show us the steps towards abundance.
God’s abundance is far beyond the shallow promises from this world. The wisdom of Proverbs 23:5 has been proven millions of times. “Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; They fly away like an eagle toward heaven. (NKJV) We are warned for a reason in Proverbs 23:4 “Do not overwork to be rich; Because of your own understanding, cease!” (NKJV)
The direction of our eyes and hearts do matter. What is the most prominent vision that we have today? Will we set our eyes on Jesus? In John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (NIV)
Jesus was answering John 14:5 where “Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” (NKJV) We do come to know by looking to Jesus. In John 14:7 “If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” (NIV)
Let us turn our attention to Jesus today. When we find ourselves sliding down the slippery slope of seeking the faux riches and temptations of the ruler of this world, let us stop and redirect our attention to Jesus. It is amazing how these tiny moments with Jesus open our hearts to abundance.
We are allowed to experience John 14:10, “Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.” (NIV)
The true work we have today that gives life to the full is the work that the Father is doing through us. Let us turn our focus there. These are the little moments in time that will never fly away. These are the riches of God that will never leave us or the people we are sharing God’s work with.
Instead of wearing ourselves out for abundance we must only look to Jesus to recognize the works of God in us. This is where we live life to the full.
Today’s Prayer: Our Father in Heaven thank You for being in me and allowing me to be in You. LORD teach me how to live through Jesus. Help me to turn my eyes and attention to Your works. Help me apply my heart to understanding and trusting You for Your abundance and fullness. We are turning our gaze to Jesus now. Amen.
