Today’s Scripture: Isaiah 40:8, NKJV- The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.”
The winds of change are always blowing. Leaders come and go and as Isaiah 40:24 promises “a whirlwind sweeps them away.” (BSB) The winds of life that direct us are the breaths of our LORD. As Isaiah 40:7 tells us “The grass withers and the flowers fall, because the breath of the LORD blows on them. Surely the people are grass.” (NIV)
Are you looking for comfort? Isaiah 40:1 simply states “Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.” (NIV) We spend most of our lives chasing the things we believe will make us more “comfortable.” All the comfort we will ever need has already been laid out before us.
Isaiah 40:3 prophesied of John the Baptist approximately seven hundred years before he was “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the LORD; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” (NKJV) Jesus is our highway to God.
As we read the word of God we learn to stand on His Word. In fact, Isaiah 40:4 promises a level place for us to stand as “Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.” (NIV)
It has been over 2700 years since Isaiah wrote these words yet what stands true is that everything else in our lives will wither and fade but as Isaiah 40:8 promises “the word of our God stands forever.” (NKJV)
The great promise of Isaiah 40:28 is that our God “never grows weak or weary.” (NLT) I captured an affirmation way back in August of 2010 that stated, “My God is never weary.” Constantly going to God’s words, we are reminded of who He is.
Isaiah 40:31 is a verse we hear and lean on, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (KJV)
From creation to the end of time we can only renew our strength to stand against the tests of time in the LORD and where we hear from Him is in His Word.
On what or who will you choose to stand today?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Word. Forgive me for when I stand on or for anything else. In You LORD I stand secure. In Your word I feel the strength of Your embrace and thank You for carrying me close to Your heart. On Your word I stand Father God to fulfill the ministry You have given me. I am waiting on You LORD to renew my strength to finish the race You have given me. I confess that I am weak and that I need Your word and Your strength to keep the faith to fulfill Your will. Amen.
