Today’s Scripture: Luke 11:8 ISV: I tell you, even though that man doesn’t want to get up and give him anything because he is his friend, he will get up and give him whatever he needs because of his persistence.
This is Jesus’ instruction to us. WHEN we pray, God teaches us and gives to us “as we needeth.”
God literally knocked me out of my chair this morning. Knocked to my knees because I wanted to show Him how thankful I am to Him for His teaching.
In Luke 11, Jesus not only teaches His disciples to pray but doesn’t even end His prayer with an amen before teaching them more. He teaches them in terms they will understand. He answered their question of how to pray with “WHEN (emphasis mine) you pray” and then told them a story that because of persistence we get what we need.
Jesus tells us God will give us what we need because we urgently and persistently ask. We need to persistently ask, seek and knock on God’s door.
Will you be persistent with God for what you need?
Today’s Prayer: Father, thank You for teaching us. Thank You for the stories of Jesus. Thank You for revealing Your teachings through Your Holy Spirit. I praise You Father and I am thankful for Your persistence in loving me and I pray to be persistent in prayer and persistent in sharing Your glory. Amen
