Today’s Scripture: Philippians 2:10-11, NKJV- “that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
I am fully convinced as Paul said in Philippians 1:12 that what has happened to us serves for the furtherance of the gospel. When we find Jesus and His love for us in our sufferings we desire to share this love.
My experience is that when sufferings bring us to our knees and we confess to Jesus that we need Him, we find a love and level of joy we want to share with everyone. The easiest way to share is to simply do as Paul did in Philippians 1:18, continue to rejoice.
I try not to be legalistic about kneeling but for me it makes all the difference in this world. My elderly mother would point out to me, before she went to be with Jesus, that some cannot kneel, physically. I am sure God knows whether our hearts are bowed or not.
A few people have asked me if kneeling is necessary. For me it is because it was there, on my knees, where I began to know Jesus and feel His need to be with God. It is on my knees seeking to pray as Jesus prayed that I have experienced Philippians 2:1-2, “Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” (NIV)
On our knees, confessing to Jesus that our greatest desire is to pray to the Faither as He does, we find joy in the Spirit. In the Spirit of God, we find the mindset of Christ Jesus that we can share. This is our service to others; to rejoice in the love and joy we have found.
I cannot tell others what they must do or not do. I can only share what I have seen and heard when I have bowed my knees and confessed Jesus Christ. I can only challenge others, who do not know this joy, to try this and see what happens.
I can only encourage as Paul did in Philippians 2:12-13 to continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling and trust that it is God who works in us giving us the desires and the power to do what pleases Him. (NLT)
I know of no other path. If you are seeking to live a life that pleases God begin by bowing your knees before Him and confessing that Jesus Christ is Lord.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for being our God. Thank You for granting us the freedom to kneel before You and to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. May our rejoicing welcome others to commune with You and Your Spirit. Have mercy upon us LORD. Please make us instruments of Your joy. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we do pray. Amen.
