Today’s Affirmation:
I delight myself in the Lord and He gives me the desires of my heart.
af·fir·ma·tion
[af-er-mey-shuh n]
–noun
1. the act or an instance of affirming; state of being affirmed.
2. the assertion that something exists or is true.
3. something that is affirmed; a statement or proposition that is declared to be true.
“It” is declared to be true. I can only declare what I have seen and heard. I know that affirmations work as I have used them to achieve money, possessions and other selfish desires. I declared them as true, claimed them and became them. What did that get me?
- Claiming Money got me the money I desired but owing more than I owned
- Claiming Possessions got me tons of stuff that clutter my life and require more and more space to store the stuff
- Claiming my desires brought me Alcoholism and lusts that were unquenchable fires
But, God was in all of this. I loved the hopes and dreams I could create and achieve with affirmations and my experience really is that if I can visualize it and affirm it I can achieve it. But who says I need money and possessions to be fulfilled? The world, the affirmationist guru’s of the self help generation. That’s OK, we all need a hook and what is easier than money, things and selfish desires? Chasing the dream was a blessing from God. After Alcoholism took me to my knees I found a new world in God. He allowed me to see that affirmations work you just have to be careful what you want to declare, claim and become.
As my life brought me to my knees, literally, I found a new world and new desires. God showed me that He has already provided me with all the affirmations I will ever need in His word. I began a treasure hunt of affirmations that were from God’s Holy Word and have a passion for searching for these every day. God has given me thousands of affirmations that I can declare to be true, claim as my own and become the person God created me to be. My prayer is that we seek Him in all our affirmations and replace those declarations and desires that take us down deadend paths or up ladders propped upon the wrong walls. Yes, God is in it all. May we declare Him as true, claim the characteristics and desires He loves and become the people He created us to be fulfilling each of our purposes.
