My Father is teaching me. Do you think things happen by accident? Are there times we need to hear the perspectives of others? Can I share with you where I am today? First of all those who follow this know I usually arise early to pray and seek God’s word searching for His Affirmations for us.
I love this time and am more passionate about this time than anything else I have ever done in my life. Is my passion misplaced? Should I feel passionate about finding affirmations or should I find passion in God the Father. Oh, I think I have been but maybe I have been fooling myself.
Let’s just say that there are reflections in my life that show me although I am passionate about this incredible gift God has given me, I may have misplaced passion. How about you? What is your life reflecting back to you?
Never have I turned on the TV during this cherished time, never. This morning however as I awoke I caught a glimpse of a Joyce Meyer show that touched me in regards to a situation I am in. After I prayed I came back to my desk to begin the affirmation process only to turn on the TV to see if Joyce was still speaking. She was not, so I flipped over to a local Christian channel and was given the message He intended. I praise Him.
Does our Father teach in unexpected ways? Does the study and passion of others reveal Him and strengthen us just when we need it most? I think so. May we seek Him first and foremost and be taught. Have you had experiences like this?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, You are magnificent. You are my Father and my teacher. Thank You for teaching me and providing all means that guide me to You. Father, thank You for loving and nourishing me and I am asking You to help me to love and nourish others. Keep all my passion in You so that what is reflected back to me is You and not me. Amen

Like all good teachers, God is One who uses various means to teach various lessons. Sounds to me like that is what happened to you this morning tom. He had some lessons He wanted you to hear and made sure you did. Good to hear from you. I know you have been super busy. Hope you have a blessed day.

No doubt! Thank you Bill and I thank you for how God is using you with such a encouraging spirit. Praying thanksgiving and blessings for you now!

Yes, I have heard God speak a message to me through other people. You are one of them, at times God puts people in our lives who have just the right message for us. Hopefully, I am not as stubborn as Balaam and hear from God and he doesn’t have to use a donkey to speak to me! Then “I will speak only the message that God puts in my mouth.” (Numbers 22:28-38)

Thank you Kimberly and I too have received messages from you. In fact your sidewalk story reminded me this morning that we must pray over our hallways and rooms of our own homes as well. That may be a no brainer but it seems some of us lose site and find it easier to pray for and with strangers than those closest and dearest. May I not be stubborn. love it!!

I am guilty of that also, Tom. Sometimes it is easier to have faith for others than it is for ourselves but we must have the same faith for ourselves to grow in God. Every promise in the Bible belongs to those who believe!

He is our utmost teacher and I’ve found He uses many things … just about everything to teach me. When you live in Him, He is everywhere in your surroundings… speaking all the time. He is the perfect Teacher. We need to make sure regardless who we listen to — that we are really seeking and trusting His voice through it all.

encouraging affirmation, thanks for posting it, one thing i am interested in –
may i ask how it was that you came to spend that time in the morning with GOD
did you just decide to do that
i have trouble having the discipline to do that, how do i get able to do that?
Tom Raines says
Hello Deb, first of all I apologize for the terrible delay if you in fact do see this reply. GREAT question. I saw other people who told me that they hit their knees first thing in the morning to thank God for keeping them sober and asking God to keep them sober today. Yes, I found this practice and this discipline at Alchoholics Annonymous. Although I knew of God prior to reaching bottom and had been a church pew person for years I was not intimate with God.
It is real easy to start.. just find a place you can feel this is your place to meet God. I started kneeling before a chair in our study. I have since moved to a couple of bathroom rugs on a concrete floor in my basement. The place is not that important but consistency is. As Jesus had the custom of doing It also worked for me to arise early before the sun comes up and go to this place and just kneel.
You don’t have to say ANYTHING if you don’t know what to say. Just show up and say here I am God do what you will with me. Or, you could start out with something like Hello Father, I love you want to know you. I am here and I hope to meet You here every morning at X ‘o’clock. I need You Father to give me the discipline to just show up. Thank you for loving me. so I may love you. I look forward to meeting You every morning and for you to transform my heart.
Amen
I personally follow the “model” of the Lord’s prayer but there are NO magic words Just show up and soon you will be amazed. Don’t beat yourself up when you fail and just desire it and it will begin to happen.
Thanks and apologizing again for lack of response as that is a rarity..

Lately God has been teaching me about encouragment from other believers… specifically in receiving it. He has put certain people in my life for a reason and will speak to me through them.
Tom Raines says
Thanks Dustin. Totally agree. We are brought together to encourage each other on to all kinds of good works!
