Today’s Scripture: and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, Luke 1:47 ESV
Man, I feel like a woman! This Shania Twain song popped into my head as I have been mesmerized by the first chapter of Luke. Can you personally feel what Mary and Elizabeth felt as God and the Holy Spirit worked His miracles in them? I apologize but I can not contain this rejoicing in 200 words or less!
In only the first 47 verses of Luke I could feel my spirit rejoice and yes bring tears to my eyes. Man, what a woman! I felt the Holy Spirit as Elizabeth did back in Luke 1:44 as Mary stopped by for a visit. Elizabeth’s baby (John the Baptist in the womb) leaped for joy as Mary was greeted into her home. That’s it; I could feel the Holy Spirit leap with whatever is growing inside of me as well. Ok, I am not pregnant with a baby but something is in there and something is leaping.
Just like Mary said after her visit from the angel Gabriel “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38 ESV Can’t we say this very thing? Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be according to His word!! Man, I feel like a woman!
Of course as we work back up through this half a chapter in Luke the previous verse in 1:37 says “For nothing will be impossible with God.” Could the angel Gabriel walk in the room we are sitting in now? Sure He could if it is God’s will everything is possible. Can God birth something in us that will change the world for His glory? I believe He can and is, do you? What is growing inside of you?
The power of God is shown in Luke 1:35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy the Son of God. Yes, the Holy Spirit will come upon us and the power of the Most High will overshadow us and whatever he births in us will be called holy. Man, I feel like a woman. Don’t you? If you are a woman, aren’t you proud and pregnant with expectation of God’s miracles being birthed in you? What is the power of the Most High birthing in you?
Today’s Prayer: O mighty God, Your power and Your Spirit overwhelm me. I love You and thank You for filling me with Your Spirit. I am thankful that like Zechariah you have heard my prayers and I am filled with joy and gladness and I just know that many will rejoice at what You birth in me. The Son of the Most High will reign forever and behold I am His servant. My soul magnifies and glorifies You Father God and I praise You for the rejoicing You have placed in my heart. My heart leaps for You and I pray Your power works in and through me to Your Glory forever. Amen

Been listening to some of the new Petra CD Tom and the song that was on as I made my way to the office was “our God is too big to fail.” What a powerful truth punctuated by this. nothing is impossible with him. He will never fail us and we have no other option but to rejoice. Great way to start my day. Thanks Tom.

“pregnant with expectation of God’s miracles being birthed in you…”
Oh what a phrase…I totally “get” the visual here! It’s how we live when we’re focused on Him…”pregnant with expectation”.
And along with Bill I say this is a GREAT way to start my day.
hugs and love to you…R

Tom,
My spiritual father told me a story of visiting a church back in the 70’s and the things he saw. He described all the women in the church laying on the floor, hiking up their skirts, and “birthing the Word of God”. Now, the women were covered by blankets, of course. But they wailed and moaned and screamed in pain as they “birthed the Word of God”.
Birthed the Word of God? Hmmm.
I completely understand the heart in which you wrote this post, but it did bring to mind the story passed on to me. They are not related, not at all! But the similarities are there.

Thanks for stopping in Donald…we humans are an odd bunch. The Holy Spirit is beyond our comprehension at times and when we attempt to control it or lean on our our own understanding it puts us in some weird positions, huh??!!
