Today’s Scripture: John 16:24 ESV; Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
Jesus shared with His disciples here at the last supper a joy they would receive if they asked. Have you come to know the fullness of His joy? Have you asked?
These chapters in John recounting the last days of Jesus’ time on earth are heavy; full. Rereading the sequence of events we experience a full range of emotion; bewilderment, comfort, fear, promise, confidence, pain and yes joy.
Jesus promised His disciples in John 16:20 that their sorrow would turn to joy. So will ours. Not happiness but a deep joy that is full of the love of Jesus, His Father and the Holy Spirit.
I rejoice in the joy I have found. My greatest hope and purpose is to share this joy. Because of Jesus, I know God and my joy is full. Do you know the fullness of God’s joy? What do you ask for in Jesus’ name?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ. Because of His life and His death I have come to know You. You are the one true God who loves me. In Jesus’ name I ask You to use me as You will. My joy is full in You and I want to accomplish the work You have given me. Please guide me with Your Spirit to share Your joy with the world that does not know you. Amen
