Today’s Scripture: From the fruit of his mouth a man eats what is good, but the desire of the treacherous is for violence. Proverbs 13:2
Name it and claim it has a bad wrap doesn’t it? Abused without a doubt and what was intended for our good can be distorted by the evil one and our evil desires. However, if we desire what God desires and speak what He fills our hearts with, will we not produce good fruits and lives?
What fruits do we allow to come out of our mouths? How do we speak to ourselves and others? It is interesting that this is the last scripture I am writing on that comes from the Celebrate Recovery Participant’s guide 4. John Baker in the last lesson refers us to Proverbs 13:20 “Be with wise men and become wise. Be with evil men and become evil.” (TLB) In studying the entire 13th chapter there are many lessons on how we talk, live and dream will affect our living and beyond.
I began this search for God’s Affirmations as I became involved with the recovery family. It became apparent to me that many of us are in recovery not from hurts, habits and hang ups but from what fruit we allow to come out of our mouths. Everything we need to fill ourselves with is in the Word of God. If we fill our selves with this Word and speak it constantly we will live it. And it is good.
Today’s Prayer: Father God thank You for Your Word. Fill my heart LORD with Your words and produce those fruits to come from my mouth. May the fruits of my lips allow me to live and share what is good. You define me dear LORD and may my heart be fertile in receiving and producing Your fruit. Fill me and surround me with Your wisdom so I will live this life to the full. Amen

Christian Affirmations 4 Life

“May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.” this came to mind as i read your post today Tom. Thanks.
Amen Bill, thanks for stopping by and sharing!
How do we encourage and help motivate our brother and sisters in Christ without sounding vain. Words sometimes sound so empty. But, it is amazing how God is working in your life. Life is hard and if we could just see beyond ourselves we would realize that even though everything looks great on the outside we all are dealing with all kinds of things on the inside. Thank you for sharing your Spiritual journey with the world. Do not stop. Your writings are a great inspiration to me. It is amazing as we walk and talk who God uses to speak into our lives. People who we really do not know.
Thank you Patsy! God knows who we are and He can bring us together to spur each other on to know Him and complete our promise in Him. Praying for you and your family as you spread the good news in east Nashville. May His children come to know Him through your diligence!
This post is particularly fascinating to me given that I spent some years influenced by Word of Faith teachings from the 1980s.
I do not disagree with the fundamental concept. The Bible is clear on many aspects of the spoken word and the power of our words. I simply believe that the ambitions of men distorted this message and created a culture out of it, rather than just doing it. This is not uncommon. It is what we as humans do. Especially if it is a matter of deep belief or if there is potential financial gain. Someone will always carry it to an extreme.
With that said, I so desire to have good words come from my mouth. I tire of negative ones coming out. We know that “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks”, which to me means that what is going on deep inside of us is what determines what we say.
If we are saying negative things, to me it means we still have more work to do and more to turn over to God. A lot of our negativity inside is well-rehearsed, embedded, and fortressed in. Not only that, we can pick up new bad habits of thought and internalize them. Or we can corrupt a pure motive into something negative.
For these reasons, we need God’s help. We can’t do it alone. All we can do is continue to turn over what we can’t do on our own, and obey what we feel God is telling us is our part in making it right. Which may be lots or may be little. It is best left to him to guide us.
Ciao.
Chaz
Amen Chaz. I too used to struggle with this. My first experience was out of greed and ambition. The secular success process and think and grow rich mindset proved true to me. I had the actual experience of claiming certain sales production and income levels that were realized. My spirit told me there was something wrong with leaving God out but the reality that what I spoke became true never left me. After alchoholism took me to my knees one morning it all came back to me and I felt the LORD planted a seed in me that said all the affirmations you will ever need are found in my WORD. Three years ago or so I began this process. Every day is like a treasure hunt and I have come to know God and His Holy Spirit in a ways I did not thing were possible. I once was frustrated that I didn’t hear God but have found that His word and His Spirit does speak many ways. I believe if we fill ourselves with His words then we will desire what He desires. As I have affirmed His word and claimed them personally He has filled me and poured His Spirit out. As you quoted in scripture as we fill ourselves with His promises to us then they will go deep inside and come out of our mouths. Something goes on here and I choose to seek His will. Thank you for checking in!
