Today’s Scripture: Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Matthew 16:24 ESV
The Word of God is amazing in what it says to each of us when we need to hear it. I found it interesting in revisiting this affirmation and scripture after two years that this scripture doesn’t even say “surrender all” but it does say we must deny ourselves.
We all have things individually we need to surrender and deny. How wonderful that your surrender is different than mine. The Pharisees and even Peter in these passages were reprimanded for trying to see Jesus as they understood Him.
We are just called to surrender everything and follow Him. The really cool part is what Jesus promised in the next verse. If we will lose our life we will find life. Surrendering all we are to live the life that Jesus promised.

Today’s Prayer: Father in Heaven, thank You for Jesus who is the Word. Thank You for His teachings and the experiences You have given me to build my faith. I surrender all and remember what You have done. I trust in Your promises and follow You. I look to You in all things. Amen
