Today’s Scripture:Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:25 New Living Translation
“God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts,” Galatians 4:6ESV. The power of the Holy Spirit is in our hearts! Unimaginable power is in each of us. God has also given us the personal power to choose.
Power can be scary. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. Galatians 5:16 NLT. “LET” the Holy Spirit? Other translations share we can live or walk in or by the Spirit. Paul is saying that we can choose to live or walk in the Spirit and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. How exciting and how powerful it is that we can choose to walk in the Spirit.
It is easy to see whether we are choosing the Spirit or the flesh isn’t it? When we are following the Spirit we are producing the fruits of the Spirit. The fruits of the Spirit are listed in Galatians 5:22:love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Is what I am choosing to do producing any of these fruits? Who will we choose to follow today?
Today’s Prayer: Abba Father, thank you for adopting me as your child and for sending Your Holy Spirit into my heart. I have come to know You God and You know me. We both are aware of the fruits I am producing. I can see Your fruits when I choose to follow the Spirit. Forgive me Father when I produce the rotting fruit when I choose to follow my sinful nature. Father I ask you to help me to keep in step with Your Spirit. I choose to walk in Your Spirit at all times and I need Your power to help me turn away from my sinful nature. In each decision help me to see what fruits I will be producing. Amen

Good point today Tom. Only when we are influenced by the Spirit can we know the fruit of the Spirit. i seem to remember someone saying, “out of the heart the mouth speaks.”

And by not making a deliberate choice…I’m still choosing aren’t I? I have got to live w/ intention or I go astray…I just don’t produce ANY of the fruits of the Spirit on my own!

Our society deals with “freedom of choice” issues in various aspects of our every day living. But none are as important as choosing to live a Spirit led-life. All of my choices would seem much easier if I could just get out of the way and let the SPirit lead!
