Today’s Scripture: If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 NIV
God is funny. Really, have you ever wondered what a God sized chuckle would sound like? I awoke this morning thinking maybe something needs to change with this blog. Maybe I am too stale with my approach or I am boring my readers with a static format. I was even thinking of some not so catchy themes to do something different on Fridays.
I have no clue as to how many people really read these affirmations of God and I have been tempted to ask for people to bounce back and let me know if they are really even opening these emails any more. That is only pride and curiosity I would assume. I began this journey of harvesting affirmations three and a half years ago. I have several thousand handwritten affirmations that I almost never go back to…soooo I thought I would go back and pick up where I had stopped recording those Affirmations and see where God had me then.
Eight verses into this “flashback” I came upon affirmations from James 1. Here in the fifth verse God is telling me to just ask Him. So there is today’s Affirmation and my action plan. God I am asking You for wisdom. There, I did it. Do you ask God for wisdom? He promises to give it to us generously.
Today’s Prayer: God, thank You for Your generosity and forgive me for my reluctance to ask. Today I am asking You Lord for wisdom. Thank you for your promise to give it to me. Please give me the ears to hear and eyes to see Your wisdom. Bring me clarity through any means You desire. I appreciate your sense of humor and await Your reply. Amen

Thank you Judy for your confirmation! I am thankful that God is blessing you too. God is great. Please don’t be a stranger and chime in whenever you have a thought or suggestion. May God Bless you as He opens our eyes to His word and His nature.
Thank you, Tom. I do read your posts every day. I always gain a bit of “wisdom” in what you say and in the scriptures that are quoted. Please keep writing!
Meg, I am so thankful for your confirmation. Thanks for taking the time to encourage and participate. May God bless us as we continue to be faithful to His call. Your words give me a glimpse of how God musht feel when we say God, please keep teaching! What a priviledge, thanks!
Dear Tom,
Maybe you can resonate with what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2: 3-5 (The Message): I was unsure of how to go about this, and felt totally inadequate—I was scared to death, if you want the truth of it—and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else. But the Message came through anyway. God’s Spirit and God’s power did it, which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God’s power, not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else.
Yes, it is the Holy Spirit who does the work, of that there is no doubt! Glory to God! And for those like Paul, and you too, Tom, who allow themselves to be used to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ, I…am…grateful (Romans 10:15)! The words “stale”, “boring”, or “static format” have ever, not once, entered my thoughts when I read you blog, and read I do (even though my lack of participation MIGHT lead you to think otherwise). Inspired, edified, and encouraged, yes. Keep being led by the Holy Spirit’s voice; You know His Voice. You and yours remain in my prayers. God Bless You. Cindy
Cindy, what a blessing your scripture reference is! You found the perfect reference to share what was going on!! Yes, we can feel so inadequate and yes I am so thankful for the Holy Spirit. It is about being faithful and not trying to impress. Thank you so much for sharing your heart here. I can not wait to arrise in the morning and seek what the Holy Spirit shares. To God and His Spirit be all the glory and may we all be faithful to His call….no matter the inadequacy we entertain in the flesh. God is GREAT! Cindy, God’s blessings to you as well. My heart is filled with joy and expectation. Selah
