Today’s Scripture: I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20 NIV)
Do you have a life verse that you claim above all others? Galatians 2:20 is mine. Every time I read it or repeat it my soul and my spirit meet at this place. What does “I have been crucified with Christ” mean to you?
I claimed this verse while I was still a practicing alcoholic. I knew I was the problem. I was practicing what Paul was talking about in Galatians 2. I was living a hypocritical life. I knew I had to die. Funny thing when I admitted I was powerless over my addictions I was able to admit I was powerless, period.
An amazing thing happened, when I died, Christ filled me. Yes Christ lives in me just as He promised. The life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. What verse brings you to life?
Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus, I continue to offer myself up to You and thank You for taking my old life and giving me Your new life. I thank You for living in me. You fill me Lord. Please take this life that I live in the flesh and strengthen my faith so I too may give myself up for others. In Your holy and mighty name I pray. Amen

Thanks Dustin- you sent me down this path with your Galations 1:10 comment yesterday. I was going somewhere else this morning and just felt the need to share mine as well. Thank you!

Indeed, we have been crucified (past tense) with Christ. So…why do so many people seek to resurrect their old selves? I mean, what is dead should stay dead. And if we truly believe Jesus and what He tells us about who we are in Him, then why do we feel the need to try to do it our way?
That is the question.
Always a pleasure to stop by here, Tom. You have a good heart. A heart that has no guile. A childlike heart. As it should be. 🙂

Unfortunately, I think many of us made of flesh have these things that keep rising up that need to be crucified. I am not sure if this is more of a thorn in the flesh thing that won’t go away or not but I know if I offer to Him to take it and crucify it that is my only hope. Even if He does not take it, as with Paul, it will be the thing that keeps bringing me back to the cross. He made me I am assuming He knows why I am so weak! Thank God that in my weakness, He is strong.
