Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 30:19, ESV- “Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.”
We all have a song to share. God still multiplies our voices as He did for the people of Israel in Jeremiah 30:19. John Baker, in Lesson 1 of Celebrate Recovery referenced Jeremiah 30:17 where God promised the Israelites, He would bring them back to health and heal their wounds. God still brings us back to health and heals our wounds today. In Jeremiah 30:2 God told Jeremiah to write down everything He told him.
My blogs have served as my writing down everything God has told me. Well, not everything. I can relate to John’s words in John 21:25 “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” (NIV) My latest book “Every Affirmation you will ever need” is 570 pages. My hope and prayer in sharing my song was for others to experience the thanksgivings as I have.
God is faithful to provide never-ending daily manna of nourishment and experiences that cause thanksgiving. God will surely save us from this corrupt and morally upside-down world. God is our only peace and security. As it was in Jeremiah’s day and in Jeremiah 30:11 God is with us, and He will save us. God will destroy evil, and although we will be disciplined and punished for our turning away, God will restore us.
The first time I wrote on Jeremiah 30:19 was around Thanksgiving of 2010. I had resisted the urge to go and manufacture a writing specific to the holiday by searching for the word thanksgiving. Instead, I stayed true to the path God had me on. As I read that day’s reading in “My Utmost for His Highest One-Year Bible,” Jeremiah 30:19, my mind did a double take as it took me a moment to realize what had just happened. “Out of them shall come songs of thanksgiving, and the voices of those who celebrate. I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will make them honored, and they shall not be small.”
Wait a second, I thought, there is the word thanksgiving, and I did not even have to search for it. It is right here, right where God already had me. Is that too weird? Is that a coincidence? Believe what you will but for me I felt and still feel rejoicing and thanksgiving spill out of me. Other versions of this scripture said “out of them” or “from” them came thanksgiving. This writing is my song that is coming out of me, and I am praying God multiples His thanksgivings. How do your thanksgivings come out?
Thanksgivings continue to spill out of me because almost two decades later and hundreds, if not thousands of experiences with God’s amazing voice and “coincidences” of how His Word and His Spirit meet me right where I am. So yes, out of me comes thanksgiving. God does provide what we need right where we are. We can trust He has us right where He wants us in our prayer, bible reading, and life. Do you ever wonder how many times we have gone looking for things where God had it for us right where we were?
Can you find thanksgiving where you are? God reminds us in Jeremiah 30:22: “You shall be My people, And I will be your God.” (NKJV) That truth alone is enough to pour out thanksgivings, will you?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come to You in prayer and thanksgivings. Thank You LORD for restoring us and speaking with us. We are Your people, and You are our God. Out of us come songs of thanksgiving. Help us LORD to record everything You speak to us so we can continue to provide the hope, restoration, and security found only in You. Please receive and multiply our thanksgivings to feed Your sheep. Amen.
