Share the post "LORD God, I am loving You with all my heart, with all my soul and with all my mind."
Today’s Scripture: Matthew 22:37, NKJV- “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’”
If we can affirm anything in this world we wish to have manifested in our lives, shouldn’t we affirm to be who God wants us to be? God is our guiding light, and His Word gives us the qualities and characteristics we are to affirm.
In Matthew 22:37, Mark 12:30, and Luke 10:27, Jesus responded to the expert in the law who was testing Him, that the first and greatest commandment is to love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. We most certainly should affirm to be who Jesus tells us is first and greatest. These too should be our first and greatest desires.
Affirmations have been identified as a way for humans to strive and obtain what they want to be. Affirmations of God is a way for humans to strive and obtain who God wants us to be. Instead of manifesting material and selfish desires we can become who God created and desires and who Jesus teaches us to be. Jesus continues to teach us through the Holy Spirit.
As Jesus promises us in John 14:26, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” (NKJV) Moses first gave us this commandment approximately 1400 years before Jesus. In Deuteronomy 5:33 Moses wrote “You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.” (NKJV)
God’s ways are the ways we should walk and who we should be to enjoy a long life in contrast to the temporary nature of worldly pleasures. In Deuteronomy 6:5 Moses told the people of Israel before they entered their promised land that “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” (NKJV)
Moses said these commandments should be in our hearts, be our first loves. Deuteronomy 6:7 is one of my favorite verses and reminds us to talk about God and His commands for us all the time.
“Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Keep affirming who God calls us to be.
When we live where God wants us to be we find many of the things already there of which we could ever dream. Deuteronomy 6:12 warns us not to forget God in all we find in life. We are to do and be who God says is right and good. Even further back in Leviticus 19:18 God had instructed Moses to tell the people to love your neighbor as yourself. Yes, we can affirm to do this too.
We need the LORD to be the people of the LORD. We can talk about it constantly and pray to Him constantly to be and do as He commands. What are your most important thoughts today?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, You are the LORD and You are one. Help us LORD to love You with all our hearts, souls, minds, and strength. Remind us to speak of You and Your ways always. Help us LORD to love our neighbors as ourselves. LORD, I desire most to be who You desire me to be. In the testing of life, I pray to draw on Jesus’ example to remember all that You have instructed us. I am trusting Your Holy Spirit to remind me and give me the Words and life to live that You have given to us. Amen.
