Today’s Scripture: Psalm 25:1- NKJV- “A Psalm of David. To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.”
David knew how to start his day. We can learn that this is the best way to start our day too. Before God, on our knees lifting our souls to Him. Jesus started His days like this as well. In the darkness of the morning, we can meet with God as Jesus and David did, lifting up our souls to God.
As I thank Jesus for teaching us to pray, I also ask Him to teach me how to experience His prayers with His Father. In these moments, I have experienced God’s faithfulness and also experienced God. There are days God has allowed me to experience John 14:20 where I know I am in Jesus and He is in me.
These experiences begin with the lifting up my soul to God. Something magical happens when I am there and I look to His light, He fills me. Years ago, I still remember the moment I felt He was in me. In the center of my soul, I knew. I had no doubt I was experiencing God in me. Just me and God, in the dark, His light touched my innermost sanctuary.
Today, I have experienced His light radiating through every cell of my being. David knew it, Jesus knew it, and we can know it. I have learned to trust God as David shares in Psalm 25:2. I can expect God to shine into my soul and I can pray to be fully engulfed so that I reflect His light.
It is here in these pre-dawn moments where I experience Psalm 25:4 where God shows me His ways and He teaches me His paths. It is so remarkable how He takes these moments and takes me to His Word to show me and teach me. I am not having some out of this world experience, I am having the experience He promised all along.
Although it may be new to us, it is not new to God. He designed us for this. He does lead us and I am praying to learn to be in this place all day long as David mentions in Psalm 25:5. LORD, I want to stay fully engaged with You without ceasing.
We are also rebellious by nature, and it is in these moments we can thank God for who He is and not who we are as David appeals to God in Psalm 25:7. Regardless of our sins, God will teach us His ways if we look to Him. If we do not choose to lift up our souls and look to him we live in darkness. But if we humble ourselves before God and lift up our souls to Him, He does teach us His way.
When we fear the LORD with a sense of awe and submission, He teaches us in the ways He chooses as promised in Psalm 25:12. We may not like, in the flesh, how he chooses to teach us, but He is teaching us. However, it is in God’s teachings where we learn the prosperity of God. His currency is not this world’s currencies.
God reveals His secrets to us in these secret places in our souls. Will you lift up your soul to God now?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am lifting my soul to You now. Teach me Your ways, O LORD. Please keep my soul and my eyes always on You. Thank You for Your mercy in my afflictions. Thank You for offering me relief from my troubles and for freeing me from my anguish. Please take away all of my sins, Father God. Keep my soul that I am lifting to you now and deliver me as I take my refuge in You. Amen.
