Today’s Scripture: James 3:17, NKJV- “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”
I am thankful we can receive God’s wisdom. This wisdom is beyond us, supernatural, but we know it when we receive it. Many times through a random thought, we receive wisdom from above and within.
The Holy Spirit who dwells within us is from above. With God, along with Jesus, from the beginning this trinity has created and called us. Our earthly and fleshly wisdom that comes naturally to us can be unspiritual and right down demonic as stated in James 3:15.
I know I am still shocked, at times, at how quickly that I can live out James 3:10, where out of my same mouth can come praise and cursing. Sometimes I am reminded as I drive in traffic, or someone touches my triggers that I still have evil lurking in my nature.
We need God’s wisdom from above. We need God’s purity, peacefulness, gentleness, humbleness, mercy, and fruits to come to and out of us. We can pray and seek this always as we realize this is not what comes naturally to us.
I am thankful that James 4:2 advises us to simply ask for what we do not have. LORD, I am asking now for Your wisdom from above. I am asking LORD for wisdom to teach me how to complete your will.
LORD, I am choosing to be Your friend and choosing Your wisdom over my own and that of this world. I am praying and asking to bear Your fruit.
- Do you ask and seek the wisdom from above?
- Can you recognize the difference between the wisdom from above and that of this world?
- What are the fruits of God’s wisdom versus the fruits from earthly wisdom?
Today’s prayer: Heavenly Father, I am praising Your name, and thanking You for Your heavenly wisdom You provide to us. Now I am asking LORD for Your wisdom today to fill me and produce from me Your purity, peacefulness, gentleness, humbleness, mercy, and fruits. Please give me what I do not have and keep evil far from me. Help me to live by Your nature. Amen.
