Today’s Scripture: Psalm 30:5, NKJV- “For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
One consistent encouragement in our Holy scriptures is one of praising God, regardless of the current circumstances. We do not always feel God is with us and giving us favor. At times, we even believe He must be angry and hiding from us.
If David, the great David of the bible, knew troubles even greater than our own, then we can expect dark days. No matter what, like David in Psalm 30:1, we will exalt You, O Lord, for it is You who lifts us out of the depths. David had been in some deep dark places. Saul was out to kill him, and he knew the depths of infidelity and murder. Yet, he knew it was God who would lift him out, again.
I can praise God for lifting me out of the depths, can you? Like David in Psalm 30:2, we must call and cry out to God for help. God is the source or our restoration and healing in our times of trouble. Even though is feels impossible at times, we are instructed to sing to the Lord and praise his holy name. In Psalm 30:7 David confirms that sometimes we can feel like God is not even there and that He is hiding from us. So, we can cry out like David did. “O Lord be merciful to me. O Lord, be my help.”
Do you need that line today? Go ahead cry out. O Lord, be my help today. David says God turned his wailing into dancing and clothed him in joy. David’s heart began to sing to God without stopping. Yes, he said, I will give You thanks forever.”
Give thanks today no matter what you face and just know that you may be crying now but joy will surely come. Keep the faith, endure, and expect joy.
1. Can you praise God for lifting you up in experience in your past?
2. Have you cried out to God for help, do you need to? Trust that God is hearing you.
3. Can we be with others and praise God for them in their time of need. They may not feel like praising and we can love and encourage but cry out to God for them. Do you know someone today that needs you to cry out to God for them today?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your promise and provision of joy. Thank You for helping us endure when we have no strength or vision. Use us LORD to stand with those in the darkness to help them endure the darkness and stand with them until the joy comes with the morning. Thank You LORD for the examples of others where we can see You do lift us from the pits and do provide Your favor to us forever. We are praising You LORD and looking to You for joy. Amen
