Today’s Scripture: Genesis 17:22, KJV- “Then He finished talking with him, and God went up from Abraham.”
There was a time I didn’t believe God really talked to us. I now know that He does. However, I also believe He speaks to us differently. I firmly believe that the God that was speaking with Abraham is the same God, my God, and I am thankful He still speaks.
You may even scoff at the idea of God speaking to you. I once was frustrated that I was not hearing from God after extended periods of crying out to Him. Why God do you remain silent? God understands these conversations with us. Even Abraham laughed to himself during this conversation with God.
We don’t really know what Abraham’s conversations sounded like, but it is probably different than we think. For me, I hear God most as I read His Word. I don’t hear a booming voice, but I know the thought and surprising new message is from Him.
How do you hear from God?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, my God, thank You for talking with me. As You go up from me, my soul knows You and Your message. I am humbled by Your presence, and I am expectant to hear from You. Thank You for the ways in which You communicate. Your Word teaches and corrects us. Your nature screams Your name and blesses our souls. Thank You God. I am thankful that You have given us the eyes, ears, and spirits to communicate with You. Speak now LORD. Amen
