Today’s scripture: Mark 11:30, KJB-“The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? answer me.”
The chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders came to Jesus to question Him as to who gave Him the authority to speak and do as He was doing. Before Jesus would answer He had this one question for these church leaders.
Mark 11:30 was Jesus’ question that took that situation from worldly to heavenly. We must stop, at times, and remind ourselves that our specific authority, gifts, and purposes are from heaven. We must not worry about what others think, do, or say and we must be, do, and work from our authority from heaven.
Jesus still speaks to us in the parables of life. Just yesterday while working a trade show for my “real” job, I met a young maintenance person, and somehow our conversation quickly moved to his drawing ability. He proudly showed me incredible paintings and drawings on his phone. As my co-worker asked about his professional training, he said he had none, and that it was all self-taught.
I quickly recognized and mentioned it was obvious he had been given a gift and this was why he was walking this earth. Why are you and I walking this earth? What authority and gifts have we been given? We have them and I am praying we have the confidence of John the Baptist to go into our wilderness and do what we were sent here to do.
What authority do you have that is obvious to you and others that can only have come from heaven?
Today’s prayer: Our Father who art in heaven, thank You for the authority You have given me. Thank You for giving me delight in what You delight in. Use my authority for others. As Jesus instructed us in Mark 11:24, I believe that whatever we ask You for in prayer we have received it. I am asking You now to use my authority for Your glory. I am asking that I spend the rest of my life living my authority to the fullest. I am asking You to use me and provide for me and those I share my authority with. In the name of Jesus, I do pray. Amen.
