Today’s Scripture: Genesis 24:12, KJV- “And he said, O LORD God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham.”
Do we really know what we are asking for when we ask for good speed and success? Are we asking with a heart to complete the mission God has given us?
For some reason, I am drawn to the prayer of Abraham’s servant here in Genesis 24. This unnamed servant’s prayer to and with God is so comforting and enlightening.
Most translations of Genesis 24:12 state that God grant him success today. I too want that but I do not want to cheapen my requests as a selfish prayer but one of fulfilling God’s task for me. Thank You LORD God for Your angels You have sent before me and thank you for Your kindness. Please LORD God grant me Your speed by answering the prayers You have given to me.
LORD God, grant me the specificity in my prayer and vision that you granted Abraham’s servant in Genesis 24:14 so that I too may know Your direction.
Today’s Prayer: LORD God, our Eternal God, I do pray to You and with You now. Grant me Your Speed and Your success today. Guide my prayers and my life so that I see that I am completing the works and the tasks You have assigned to me. Thank You for sending Your angels before us LORD so we can complete Your will and share Your kindness. Help me to see the specific plans You have for me today and grant me the speed and faith to complete Your will. As Your servant I pray. Amen
