Today’s Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 2:4, NLT- “For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.”
Many people spend their entire lives wondering what the purpose of their lives is. Even more wonder what the point of life is and questioning why God would do this to them.
In addition to 1 Thessalonians 2:4, I was drawn to 1 Samuel 12:22 where I have published an affirmation stating, “I please the LORD by being His.” I do seem to get myself in trouble when I think it is about me.
Trying to please myself brought me plenty of calamity. Trying to please others simply made me lose myself. When I act to please God, I find wholeness, passion, and purpose. I find ways to serve others. When I seek after God’s heart, I find it.
When I am seeking God’s counsel and acting on His commands, I find meaningful and lasting purpose. We were created for God’s glory. As we run the race set out before each of us, we finish our purpose and please God.
Are looking for your purpose? Please God.
Today’s Prayer: Almighty Father God, I love You and I am praying to please You. I am praying to live out the purpose You have laid out for me. Help me to hear Your counsel and act on Your commands. I know Your plans will not fail and I am praying to complete Your plans and purpose for me. I am following You LORD and carrying out Your commands. Thank You Father for giving me Your purposes. Amen.
