Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 25:3, NKJ- “From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, this is the twenty-third year in which the word of the LORD has come to me; and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you have not listened.”
I am amazed at how God’s word speaks. I have learned to rise early and listen to Him. We do not need to over think this, we just need to be faithful by showing up day after day and inclining our ear to Him.
Will you set an appointment with God? Over fifteen years ago in an AA meeting I made a commitment to God by setting an appointment to meet with Him early every morning. As I have risen early and listened, I have found God and His Word to be very present and the most enriching part of my day.
For twenty-three years Jeremiah had taken the word he received from the LORD and shared it early in the morning to the people of Judah. Jeremiah 25:4 says, “Again and again, the LORD has sent you his prophets, but you have not listened or even tried to hear.” (NLV)
Will we even try to listen? It has been my experience that if we rise early and try to listen, we will hear the word of the LORD. It may be that we hear Him from the likes of Jeremiah, or it may be the Holy Spirit teaches us from another voice.
Our LORD is not silent; will you rise early and make the effort to listen to Him?
Today’s Prayer: LORD, thank You for sending Your Word. Help me to listen and receive Your prophets, Your Spirit, and Your Word. Forgive me for when I have not even tried to listen. Awaken me early LORD so I may hear You and share the word I receive. In You LORD I trust, hope, and listen. I am praying to be faithful to Your voice. Amen
