Today’s Scripture: John 8:12, NKJV- “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.””
Through the scriptures we find challenges with the darkness of man. Evil and religious alike attack our minds and souls. Jesus was sent to redeem us and give us His light. When the world looks hopeless and dark there is but one light that can pierce the darkness.
Humankind cannot understand with our limited faculties. However, Jesus knows the beginning and the end. Some will not believe just because they cannot grasp Jesus or accept Him with their understanding. We make judgements based on the limitations of the flesh.
Jesus has the understanding and light of God, the Father, who sent Him. We have access to the Father above because of Jesus. They are not of this world as we are nor limited by this world as we can be. Our arrogance of thinking we understand all things can rob us of the knowledge and light of God. We have been given access to this through Jesus.
Like Jesus, we can tell the world what we have heard from the Father. I know personally, I understand God and Jesus less today than when I first confessed to know them. However, I believe and know of them more now than ever and I trust their knowledge over any understanding of humans.
As Jesus stated in John 8:28, I do my best to only speak what the Father has taught me. When I speak from my flesh, I can be dark. When I seek what the Father teaches in His Word and with His Holy Spirit, I can see His light. Jesus, I am thankful that You brought us access to this light. In this light I find the Father and His peace and confidence.
I smile when reading John 8:29 when I feel the words of Jesus that the Father never leaves me alone. We are not alone when we accept, we need the knowledge and light of God, of which we are incapable of without Him. LORD, I want to do those things that please you.
We can choose to believe when we do not understand. We can understand that the Father and Jesus are above and beyond our understanding. We can hold on to these teachings yet never believing we have mastered them. In John 8:32 states “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
It is odd to know that we will know the truth only when we come to know we can only know the truth through Jesus. Circular reasoning beyond the minds of humankind yet available in the light of God. We can be freed from the slavery of our understanding and sins. John 8:36 let’s us know there is a freedom beyond our understanding and states “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
When we make room in our lives for God’s Word. We can thank Jesus for making us able to hear and see God. Many on this earth, who in their ignorance of trusting in their own understanding fall for the father of this world, the devil. The lies they tell are all they know and believe.
We can know the truth and light of Jesus by simply accepting to believe Him even when we do not understand. When we make the choice to believe we experience God, the Father, and His light. We can choose to accept we belong to God. When we make this choice, we begin to hear God in His Word.
We can honor God and His Word by accepting Him above our fleshly understanding. Can you accept Jesus even when you do not understand?
Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing the knowledge and light of God to us here on earth. I am choosing to believe You and the Father above even though I may not understand. I am welcoming Your Word and Your light. I am thankful You have given me access to the Almighty who is above. I am trusting Your Word, love, and light to welcome the understanding of God. Help me to speak only from this understanding. Amen.
