Today’s Scriptures: Matthew 22:37, NKJV- “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”
This was Jesus’ response to a religious expert. Jesus went to the heart of the matter. The Pharisees were legalistic about the law while Jesus said it was most important to love.
The words are easy to say but I am not certain I understand the meaning of love any more than I can define God. LORD, I need You to teach me how to love properly. I do not have it in me to keep the law or to love with all my heart.
If I cannot do the first and greatest commandment without the help of the LORD, how can I do all others. We nor our neighbors are easy to love, are we?
The great news is that we can love God with all our hearts, and we can love our neighbors as ourselves through the love of our LORD and Jesus Christ. When we live in and from their Spirit, we are love.
Will we love with the love of Jesus?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, my greatest desire is to love You with all my heart, mind, and soul. Teach me LORD to love as You love. Overwhelm my fleshly love and understandings with Your love and Wisdom. Help me LORD to love as Jesus Christ loved. Help me to love all my neighbors. LORD, You are the greatest love and I need You. Amen.
