Today’s Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:5,NKJV- “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
I just love how God and His commands, the Bible, draw us to what we need most. I was directed this morning to Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!” (NKJV)
Over the past seventeen years since I began harvesting these affirmations of God, I can see a transition from self-focused to God-focused. Do not get me wrong, I still struggle with being selfish, but I never want to be guilty of being only God-ish. My prayer is to affirm who God is so our lives affirm Him.
I desire more than anything to be who God wants me to be. To be all in. I share my affirmations so others too can learn to take God personally. Instead of speaking about the LORD, I pray we speak directly to Him and be His and He is ours.
As I read Deuteronomy 6:5 this morning where I am told that I shall love the LORD my God with all my heart, with all my soul, and with all my strength, I was reminded to tell Him to His face that I do. There is so much more intimacy when we move from saying I love the LORD to I love You LORD. Try it, can you sense it?
I am realizing that I do not tell God that I love Him often enough. I woke up with a pain in my shoulder this morning and I realized I do not thank God enough for all the moments that I live pain-free. Do I only go to God when I need relief from life’s pains, or do I go to Him always with gratitude, praise, and love?
If the LORD is your God, will you tell Him that you love Him now? What do you feel in your heart, soul, and strength?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for loving us. Thank You for loving me. I love You LORD. You are my God. I love You with all my heart, soul, and strength. Please give me what I do not possess on my own to love You more. Teach me LORD to pray and live with You without ceasing. In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ I am praying to You now. Amen.
