Today’s Scripture:
Hebrews 11:1 NLT Tyndale: WHAT IS FAITH? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. God gave his approval to people in days of old because of their faith.
This Tyndale 1996 NLTtranslation adds these three words, but the question did stop me in my tracks. “What is Faith”? Then I read “It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.” I didn’t get to the second part of the verse and already knew that this was my affirmation for the day. I just knew I wanted to live confidently in the hope of God.
Do you want a pep rally? Hebrews 11goes on to motivate and encourage our confidence with story after story of biblical examples of people who lived by faith. Faith is not defined by words but by actions. We can tell people all day long what our understanding of the word FAITH is but can we show evidence in our actions, in our choices?
Will we live confidently in the hope of God today? How do you define your faith?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, thank You for the examples You have given us in Your Word. Fill me with Your confidence, Your courage and Your hope so I will live by faith and do what you guide me to do. May my life be evidence of You. Thank You for Your assurance so I can trust in the unseen. Be clear with me. I have confidence in You. Amen
