I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Today’s Scripture: Romans 7:18, NIV “For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.”

Only the Spirit of Christ in me can overcome my sinful nature. I can so relate to Paul in these scriptures. It is shocking, at times, how far and how fast I can move from the Spirit of Christ that lives in me to my sinful nature that still lurks around inside of me too.

I am very thankful that the Spirit of Christ lives in me. God knows my desire is to only desire what He desires. Would Paul have been able to relate to us if he did not also struggle as we struggle? Our nature is sneaky and well, our nature.

I am thankful there is no condemnation in Jesus Christ. I am thankful for the Spirit of Christ that sets me free. I need Your Spirit LORD to help me carry out Your desires.

How do you stay in the Spirit of Christ?

Today’s Prayer: Thank You Heavenly Father for Your love and forgiveness. Thank You for sending Your Son so I have His Spirit live in me. I pray to more and more live in Your Spirit and overcome my sinful nature with Your desires. Thank You LORD for not condemning me yet giving me life and peace in Your Spirit. Now LORD, I welcome Your Holy Spirit to consume all of me, so I do what You desire for me to carry out. Amen.
