Today’s Scripture: John 15:13, KJB- “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
In what ways do we lay down our lives for our friends? Do we sacrifice our fleshly love for a greater love? In John 15:9, Jesus assures us that as God the Father loved Him, He have loved us. We are instructed to continue, abide, and remain in that love.
Jesus knows of a greater love, and we can know it too when we lay down the love, we think we have for the love Jesus knows we have in Him. As we remain in the love of Christ, we produce the fruits of being His disciples.
In John 15:12, Jesus’ command is this: love each other as I have loved you. This is a greater love, the greater love. We can lay down our lives for our friends when we seek His love and His commands first. Jesus states that we are His friends if we do what He commands.
As friends of Jesus, we can love as He loves, and it is truly a greater love.
Today’s Prayer: Thank You Jesus for loving me as God the Father loves You. I am welcoming Your love, the greater love of God now. Help me LORD to keep Your commands, and to continue to abide in Your love. Help me to bear much fruit as Your friend. Thank You Lord for reminding me to lay down my desires and my life for Your greater love and good. Amen.
