Today’s Scripture: 1 John 4:15, NKJV- “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.”
Can you confess that Jesus is the Son of God? When we open ourselves to the Spirit of God and welcome Him in, He fills us. Receiving God into our spirit is a deeper dwelling than a belief. A belief is contained in our minds while our spirits bypass understanding and receive.
1 John 4:10 tells us that God first loved us. This love was not up to us. God does not love us because we first loved him. He loved us first. God also has offered us His Spirit not because of the power of our spirits or the power of our beliefs. He sent Jesus, not because we believed He would. He did.
We must only accept it and confess. When we do welcome God’s Spirit and accept that Jesus, the Son of God, came to earth in the flesh, we find life. The life of acceptance of God and His Son, Jesus Christ, grants us the love and life of Christ.
1 John 4:2 assures us that “By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,” (NKJV). When we make this confession, we are of God. When we are of God, the world loses its grip on us. We are free to live in the freedom of God. It is done. 1 John 4:4 states that we have already overcome the world “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (NKJV)
Regardless of what the world throws at us today, we have already overcome. When Jesus said “it is finished” while on the cross, it was finished. We only need to accept it. Lord, Jesus, I accept Your sacrifice for me.
When we accept and confess Jesus, we have the freedom to live in Him. When we receive the love of God, we can love all others without conditions. 1 John 4:7 affirms “Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
As 1 John 4:12 states God’s love is perfected in us. God has given us His Spirit. When we live from God’s Spirit and live in His love we are fully living. Our confidence is in Christ. We can love boldly. Because God loves us and sent us His Son, we overcome fear. Since we have God what is there to fear?
1 John 4:19 teaches us that we can love because God first loved us. Will you accept and confess that God loves you today and confess that Jesus is the son of God? When we do, we have the freedom to live in the fullness of God’s love.
Today’s Prayer: Thank You God for loving us first. Thank You for the gift of Your Son Jesus Christ. I am confessing with my mouth and my spirit that Jesus came to earth in the flesh and died for me. I do believe it is finished. I am welcoming Your Spirit, Father God, into my spirit so that I live the fullness of Your love. In Jesus’ name I do pray. Amen.
