Share the post "I am waiting on You LORD with my all my soul and I am hoping in Your Word."
Today’s Scripture: Psalm 130:5, NKJV- “I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.”
Waiting on the LORD is not easy. With all our souls, with all our beings we must seek the LORD as we wait. A real longing of the heart is what David is voicing here in Psalm 130:5.
“Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD;” says David. Have you cried out to God from your deepest darkest places with all of you. I know I have. I am thankful for those deep dark places and times because it is in those places, I have found God.
I do not enjoy waiting, however. I want peace, healing, and answers right now.
Even the Israelites in the desert who had seen the majesty of God by fire at night, clouds during the day and a parting of a sea could not wait just a few days prior to making a golden idol before Moses’ return to them. Impatience is not a new phenomenon.
“My soul waits” shows the yearning and the power of David’s desire. In the next verse Psalm 130:6 David says he waits more than those who stay up keeping watch all night long. Imagine standing guard all night and how much you could not wait to see the daylight of morning so you may finally get some rest. Yes, more than those who watch for the morning, my soul is longing for You LORD.
Hope is so great. I love hope, don’t you? Hope is so good for the heart and the psyche. In what do we hope? I love Charles Spurgeon’s commentary on this: “Waiting, we study the word, believe the word, hope in the word, and live on the word; and all because it is “his word, “–the word of him who never speaks in vain. Jehovah’s word is a firm ground for a waiting soul to rest upon.”
- Are you waiting for something today?
- Do you know what it is like to cry out from the depths?
- Can you find hope in God’s word?
Today’s Prayer: Father God, I am praising Your name. I am crying out from my deepest darkest places and with all my soul to You O LORD. Meet me here LORD and help me to wait. Teach me with Your Word as I find hope from You. Help me to endure LORD and I am looking for Your light as the lookout guards waited for the light of day. Show Yourself LORD, help me to keep hope as I wait for You and Your timing. Amen.
