Today’s Scripture: John 2:10, NLT- “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!”
Have you kept your best until now? I do not think it is too far a stretch to compare our lives to the water that Jesus turned into wine in His first recorded miracle in John chapter two. As the water, we are not capable of our greater purpose until Jesus enters our lives and we become His best.
In John 2:11 we learn why Jesus changes us. “This beginning of His signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.” (NASB) We are turned into our best to bring Jesus glory so others believe.
I love the challenge of John 1:45-46, “Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” (NKJV) I am also thankful for the people that God has brought into my life that have welcomed me to follow Jesus.
We may not be able to convince others of who Jesus is, but we can challenge them to “come and see.” I also find the transition in John 2:3-5 very enlightening. Mary reveals less talk and more action.
In John 2:3-4 “And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine. Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” (NKJV) Mary, in turn, did not attempt to convince or beg Jesus to perform the miracle but in the very next verse John 2:5 “His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” (NKJV) When we do what Jesus says, we bring Him glory and others believe.
Come and see what Jesus says to you. He turns us into His best.
Today’s Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for coming to us. Thank You Lord for the miracles You have done in our lives. I am praying to do whatever You say for us to do. Help me Lord to bring you glory so others believe. In the name of Jesus of Nazareth, we pray. Amen.
