Today’s Scripture: In your love, you were patient with them for many years. You sent your Spirit, who warned them through the prophets. But still they wouldn’t listen! So once again you allowed the peoples of the land to conquer them. Nehemiah 9:30 NLT
Nehemiah 9 reflects how much we and God do not change. We are slow to learn but thankfully we are told in Nehemiah 9:17 that the LORD is slow to anger. Read Nehemiah 9 and see if this doesn’t sound like the people of today, of you and me.
Thankfully we can do as them and re-read His scriptures and be reminded that our God is a God of forgiveness, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, rich in unfailing love that does not abandon us.
We resolve to do better, yet the resolve of our flesh is easily broken or forgotten. We stand again today and read aloud His promises and His laws and know He hears our cries from Heaven and He liberates us.
We are liberated not for who we are but who He is. Our God is love and He is patient.
Are you thankful for God’s patience?
Today’s Prayer: LORD God, thank You for Your patience and Your never ending love for me. LORD forgive me for my weakness and for when I turn away from You. Thank You for hearing my cries and for having greater plans for me than I can see or deserve. I love You LORD and desire to live in You and fulfill all of Your desires for me. Amen
