Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 6:10 NIV- “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”
Our strength is in the mighty power of our Lord. Ephesians 6:12, NIV, puts it this way- “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” To fight these spiritual forces, we need the strength of the Spirit of God.
Paul teaches us in Ephesians 6 that the only way we can stand up against the devil’s schemes is to put on the whole armor of God. We are no match against evil, we do not have the strength on our own to resist. Our battles are much larger and higher than we often realize.
We need to put on the full armor of God as Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:13-17. We can stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around our waists and with the breastplate of righteousness in place. With our feet covered with the gospel of peace, we can take up the shield of faith, put on the helmet of salvation, and use the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God.
As Ephesians 6:18 instructs us to always pray in the Spirit. Holy Spirit, we need You in these battles of our flesh and spirits. We must constantly pray for the Lord’s people. We must expand our prayers to lift the Lord’s people as it is going to take all of us surrendered to and equipped with the power of God to stand against this evil age.
We are fighting the evil one himself. He is the ruler of this world, and we are witnessing those under his rule. To be victorious, we must stand firm and put on the armor of God. It is God’s strength and His might that defeats evil. When we stand firm and put on the armor of God, we are standing confidently that we are strong in the Lord.
Will you put on your armor and pray in the Spirit today?
Today’s Prayer: Mighty God, forgive us for when we think we can stand on our own strength. I am praising You Lord and thanking You for giving us Your armor. I am asking You to remind us to put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, to use faith as our shield and to wear proudly Your helmet of salvation and remember we have the protection of the sword of the Spirit which is Your word. Yes, we are strong in You Lord. Please keep our spirits on high alert to pray for others also in this battle between flesh and spirit. I am praying to Your Spirit to help us fight and win our battles. Amen.
