Today’s Scripture: Psalm 81:5, NKJV- “This He established in Joseph as a testimony, When He went throughout the land of Egypt, Where I heard a language I did not understand.”
We hear God in different ways. Asaph, who wrote this Psalm 81, was a musician and many brothers and sisters in Christ have told me they hear God in music. I rarely listen to music. Am I missing another opportunity to hear God?
In praising the God of Jacob and Joseph, hearing an unknown voice or a language not understood is spoken of in Psalm 81:5. If we miss opportunities to praise God are we missing an opportunity to hear God?
In Psalm 81:7, we are told that if we cry out to God in our distress and troubles, He answers us from “the secret place of thunder”. Are we listening to God in heaven? In Psalm 81:8, we are instructed that if we would only listen to God, we would hear His warnings.
If we remove all other gods in our lives, we do hear God. Psalm 81:13-16 states that if we would only listen and follow God’s ways we will be satisfied.
I have heard an unknown voice that has led me to you today. How do you listen to God?Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am listening for Your voice. Grant me the ears and spirit to hear You. I am praising You LORD for Your voice and provision. Thank You LORD giving me Your finest satisfactions. Help me to be faithful to Your voices. Amen.
