Today’s Scripture: Nehemiah 12:24 NIV: And the leaders of the Levites were Hashabiah, Sherebiah, Jeshua son of Kadmiel, and their associates, who stood opposite them to give praise and thanksgiving, one section responding to the other, as prescribed by David the man of God.
I find it interesting of the different “jobs” people served in Nehemiah. There were those “in charge” of songs of thanksgivings. Others stood opposite each other and gave praise and thanksgiving watch by watch.
What a dream vocation to stand and give praise and thanksgivings all day and night. I praise God for calling me and I am thankful for the endless giving of His Word. It also strikes me that I am in charge of the praise and thanksgivings God, the King of kings, has given me. I am not called to do other jobs that other people are in charge of.
We find our greatest joy when we rejoice with others in praise and thanksgivings by living out our gifts. We can be confident that we have a job to do that no one else has been called to do. We must be confident and take charge.
What are you called to give?
Today’s Prayer: LORD God I praise You and I offer You my offering of thanksgiving. You are the King of kings and it is You who determines my daily activities. Help me to be faithful and consistent in offering up my praises and thanksgivings by living out the responsibilities You have placed me in charge. Thank You for the riches of Your Word. With thanksgiving I come to You and You fill me with more and more thanksgiving. LORD help me to give away Your thanksgivings so that others may overflow with great joy. Amen
