Today’s Scripture: Mark 1:17, NKJV- “Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.””
We can complicate following Jesus, can’t we? Jesus made this simple, “follow me.”
With one hand still on our nets we try to drag along what we were doing before Jesus. We try to figure out how we are to balance our lives and squeeze in some Jesus time.
Jesus said follow me and I will make you become. As we follow Jesus with all of our hearts, minds and souls He makes us and we become who He and the Father desires.
It did not make worldly sense when Simon and Andrew did it and it will not make sense today. Later in the tenth chapter of Mark the blind man was given his sight and then we are told he followed Jesus along the way. We too can follow out of our faith and thanksgiving in the One who has healed us.
Will you drop your nets and follow Jesus today?
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, thank you for calling me to follow you. Please forgive me for when I have reached back to hold onto my former life. I am following You Jesus to where You are going and trusting You will continue to tell me where to go. My faith and my trust are in You. I am following You now to become who our Father desires. Amen
