Today’s Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11, KJB- “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Do you have hope in your future, or do you expect what God expects? The NIV translation for Jeremiah 29:11, I have read for years is “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The King James Bible hits me in a different place of an “expected end.” While hope is wonderful and we will always have it in the LORD, expecting takes us to a different place doesn’t it?
Do we expect to hear God as Jeremiah did? We hear of amazing testimonies of those who listen and act on what they hear from God. Do we find hope knowing the LORD has plans for us and will speak them to us? God instructed those in captivity in Babylon to pray for peace and prosperity in the city in which they lived so they too would receive peace and prosperity. We can do the same today. We can pray for peace and prosperity for the places in which we live.
Jeremiah 29:12 promises that if we pray to the LORD He will listen. Jeremiah 29:13 also promises that If we seek Him and search with all our hearts we will find Him. This is where we find God and His expectations for us. We can live in His expectations, and it is here we find His future and His hope for us.
Will you pray to the LORD for the future and hope He expects for you? Do you expect to end up where God expects you?
Today’s Prayer: LORD Almighty, God of Israel, please bring peace and prosperity to this place You have brought me. You LORD are my future and my hope. Please allow me to hear You clearly. Thank You LORD for listening to me. Lord, I am seeking and searching for You with all my heart. Remove all other things that divide my heart. Thank You LORD for promising that we will find You if we seek. Help me to listen to Your words LORD and share Your truths. Amen.
