Today’s Scripture: James 3:17 NKJ: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
A Fig tree does not produce olives. Neither does a salt spring produce fresh water. Wisdom from above produces much different results than earthly wisdom. I am embarrassed at the fruits I bear.
Instead of speaking purity, peace, gentleness and mercy, in a split second I can be speaking worldly, self-centered and demonic things just as James warns about here. James also warns us about the power of the tongue in these same verses.
Should cursing come from the same lips I praise with? In a nanosecond I can surprise myself of the filth and anger within me. Traffic and family members are quick triggers, aren’t they? Those are not the fruits I want to bear. My life is proof that I spend too much time in my fleshly understanding and lack of wisdom.
God I need You and Your wisdom to replace my understanding with your wisdom.
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, I am seeking Your wisdom. Please forgive me Father for speaking from the natural and my self-seeking ways. I need Your supernatural wisdom from heaven to speak and produce Your fruits. I confess I do not contain Your goodness and wisdom in myself. Help me to find, speak and live from Your wisdom. Father God help me to sow peace and reap righteousness. Amen
