Today’s Scripture: For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5:10 NIV
WOWZER! At first I thought this verse was taking me down a path of how much more full our life was by following the LIFE of Jesus and not just being totally focused on what His death did for us. I initially thought “much more” was superfluous.
However Paul has overwhelmed me as this days reading of Romans 5-8:17 showed MUCH MORE! The NLT translation spoke of this WONDERFUL new relationship we have with God. How we can accept this BOUNTIFUL gift. God’s WONDERFUL KINDNESS is ABUNDANT. Then Paul tells us of this NEW life we have because of the life and death of Jesus.
This new life filled with the Spirit that can overwhelm our sinful natures. “Much more” sounds insufficient when realizing that the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in us. Is there enough “muches” to handle that? Just as God raised Christ from the dead He will give life to us. Romans 8:17 promises that everything God gives to Jesus He gives to us and we share in God’s treasures!
Yes, the life and death of Jesus give us more than words describe. He gives us an indescribable life in the Spirit. Do you have any words that help describe how much more?
Today’s Prayer: Dear Father, Your wonderful kindness is so abundant. Your love for me is incomprehensible to my flesh. Thank You for Your Spirit. Your Holy Spirit speaks deep within my heart and tells me I am Your child. Thank You for saving me and having Your Spirit live within me. Lead me by Your Spirit and strengthen me to turn away from my flesh. Thank You Father for a life that is much much more than I could have dreamed. Amen

“This new life filled with the Spirit that can overwhelm our sinful natures.”
Wow Tom that thought alone is so powerful! Our sinful natures are overwhelmed by the life of Jesus inside of us! The “old man” is defeated! Thanks for the reminder!

The power is available and may we continually gaze upon the beauty and accept! Thanks jelillie
