Share the post "Affirmation of God: I walk in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit."
Today’s Scripture: So the church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was being built up. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it multiplied. Acts 9:31 ESV
Do you know the perfect formula, the perfect mix, the yin and yang so to speak? The early church found that it multiplied and grew as they walked in the proper balance with the appropriate amount of fear and the appropriate amount of the Holy Spirit. Just as today, there was a constant tug of war between the law and comfort.
Can you see the balance? Do you know where to find it? In this same ninth chapter of Acts there is a constant theme. Peter “knelt and prayed” and then he raised Dorcas from the dead. In chapter 10 we are told Cornelius “regularly prayed to God”. God sent him a vision to find Peter. The story picks up with Peter praying and also being given a vision.
Through Peter’s prayer we all learn that “if God says something is acceptable, don’t say it isn’t.” God tells us to fear Him, to show Him the appropriate respect and devotion and in praying to Him He will provide the comfort and power of the Holy Spirit. It is world changing. Through the prayers of Cornelius and Peter God brought His love and His Holy Spirit to us gentiles. The world will still be changed to today as we regularly kneel and pray. Do you enjoy the privilege of prayer?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us the ability to pray to You. You are above all things, in all things and through all things. What a privilege it is Father God to kneel before You and praise You. Pour out your Holy Spirit LORD upon me. Use me God to do Your will. Open my eyes and my spirit to your visions and your desires. Draw me near Father. To You I pray. Amen.

The Holy Spirit is comforting… Yes, yes! Praying that today, thanks Tom.
Thanks Dustin! Comforting to know God is in control! Pray on my brother!
Have you ever known you should pray that prayer but been afraid to? 😉
Oh yes, Bill. We can run wild in our minds and in our insecurities. God, help us to let go and trust in your Lordship and in your Holy Spirit. It is there we find comfort. Be bold and courageus for He is with us always and His plans are much better than ours. Our fears and our beliefs do not dictate truth do they?? Great question Bill!
With reverence (a feeling or attitude of deep respect tinged with awe; veneration) I worship our Father each day and submit to His will. Thank you Lord for sending your Holy Spirit to go with us!
Awesome words Tom.
Thank you Kimblerly! Awe is vital isn’t it for us to worship our Father and this awe opens wide the gates of our hearts to receive the Spirit!! Thank you!!
