Today’s Scripture: Haggai 1:7-8 NLT Tyndale: “This is what the LORD Almighty says: Consider how things are going for you! Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the LORD.
We humans always think we have a new improved and progressive way about us. Haggai was written over 2500 years ago but this sounds very much like our stories today.
Just as in Haggai’s day we are working to build our luxurious lives while the LORD’s house is in disorder. Can’t we see that we have planted much but harvested little? Can’t we see that even though we have plenty we are never satisfied? Our wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes.
Does this all sound familiar to any of you? We need to put God’s house in order first and foremost don’t we? THEN He will take pleasure in our lives and bring honor to them.
Have we progressed or do we need to go back to rebuilding God’s house. What will be your first priority today?
Today’s Prayer: God of Heaven, thank You for being with me. Thank You for Haggai’s timeless message to remind me to make You our number one priority. Reveal to me the ways I can help build Your temple today. Thank You for Your Spirit that will give me the strength and enthusiasm to begin my work for You. Amen
