What will we pursue and chase after today? As we chase after things do we sometimes find things that are unexpected or amazing along the way? What are you pursuing?
At some point in my quiet time with God this morning for a split second I was reminded that I had gotten away from my daily readings of Proverbs. Of course, now it is hard for me to read scripture without looking for an affirmation to claim from them.
Today is the 21st day of the month so I just started back at Proverbs 21. For a change of pace I thought I would read the New Living Translation from www.blueletterbible.com. Oddly enough this affirmation was taken from Proverbs 21:21. Whoever pursues godliness and unfailing love will find life, godliness, and honor.
“Whoever” can be us right? Why not you and me? We can pursue godliness. Dictionary.com suggests that godliness is conforming to the laws and wishes of God. We should pursue the character of God.
Who, outside of God has an unfailing love? By pursuing His love, His kind of love will I find it? What’s the worst that can happen? The best?
I am just thankful this verse is about the pursuit and not the perfection. Thank God He doesn’t say here that I must be Godly or have unfailing love because quite frankly I fail on both counts. Don’t we all?
His promise is if we pursue and chase after these things the results will be that we will find life, godliness and honor. Life to the full. Real life not the shallow life the world has to offer but a rich life full of God. The more we pursue His character the more we take it on and the more we have His character the more honor we will find. Honor is not the goal but a result of pursuing who He is.

It really takes daily effort and pursuit to improve our conscious contact with God doesn’t it? It doesn’t just happen.
How will you pursue godliness and unfailing love in your corner of the world today? Let me know what that looks like. For me I will continue to pray, read His Word, trust His Spirit and show His love. When I fall short I will promptly admit it and ask forgiveness and turn back to the pursuit.

Godliness and unfailing love…yes, it’s a deliberate effort to pursue these…I read a phrase in My Uttmost for His Highest the other day…”be generous in our attitude towards everyone…” I think that sums up what pursuing Godliness and unfailing love will look like for me today. Hugs~
