Today’s Scripture: God gave Paul the power to perform unusual miracles. Acts 19:11 NLT
By God’s power we can do unusual miracles. Here in Acts 19 we are told that items that had just touched Paul’s skin were laid on people that they were healed and evil spirits were expelled. Was Paul even aware of where others took these clothes and who were healed? Are we aware of how God’s power can allow us to perform unusual miracles?
It is God and not us. Proven here in Acts 19 where some went out on their own power and tried to use the name of Jesus to cast out evil spirits. The evil spirit asked “who are you”?Who am I? I am a sinful self serving man without God. It is God’s power that allows me to confess my sins and God’s power that defeats evil. I know I am powerless.
What a great question: WHO AM I? Later in this chapter in 19:32 when there was a gathering to protest the message of the Good News, of the mob that had gathered we are told that “most of them didn’t even know why they were there.” Do we know why we are where we are today? No matter how we got here, the life changing event is knowing that God’s power that will work in us and through us. God’s power will take things that have touched us and give to others. The miracles are happening whether we are aware or not.
Today’s Prayer: God of power, God of miracles use my flesh to touch others and bring healing and miracles. I praise You that You can use such a weak and lowly sinner to spread Your power. My hope, my faith and my confidence is in Your power. You are my God, my Father, my savior and my power. Use me Lord and remind me of why I am here and who I am. Amen
