Today’s Scripture: Psalm 139:14, NIV- “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm 139 may touch my heart more than any other Chapter in all of God’s Word. I feel David’s heart of praise every time I visit with him here. Psalm 139:14 reveals why. David said he praised God because God fearfully and wonderfully made him.
God also made us to praise Him because we too are fearfully and wonderfully made by Him. As I look back over the affirmations, I have captured over the years in Psalm 139, I read statements such as:
- God, You are too wonderful for me. (Psalm 139:6)
- Father God, I am thankful I cannot flee from Your presence. (Psalm 139:7)
- The Spirit of God is with me wherever I go. (Psalm 139:7)
- Wherever I am the hand of the Lord leads me and His right hand holds me. (Psalm 139:10)
- I am fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14)
- My soul knows the wonder of God. (Psalm 139:14)
- I praise God for it is He who made me who I am. (Psalm 139:14)
- I will do today what the Lord has prepared for me. (Psalm 139:16)
- God knows all of me. (Psalm 139:23)
These declarations and around seventy other affirmations in this one chapter make my heart sing. In the previous chapter David also expressed in Psalm 138:1 that “I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; before the “gods” I will sing your praise.” Now I know why David sang. You and I were also made to sing our praises, with all our hearts and souls, to our God.
Spending time in God’s Word we find thousands of reasons to praise Him with our hearts filled with awe and wonder of our God and His Son who are worthy of our praise.
Will you praise God with me today?
Today’s Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your wonder. I praise You for fearfully and wonderfully making us. Thank You for Your Word LORD God and for Your servants that came to teach us from their hearts of praise. Thank You for being with us always and everywhere. Thank You LORD for filling our hearts with praise and thanksgivings as we praise You. You alone are our God who is worthy of our praise. We are praising You now. In Jesus’ name we do pray. Amen.
